Ellen Johnson Sirleaf is a member of The Elders, a former President of Liberia and Africa’s first elected female head of state, a Nobel Peace Laureate, a leading promoter of peace, justice and democratic rule, a voice for freedom, and advocate for health for all. She is the founder of the Ellen Johnson Sirleaf Presidential Center for Women and Development (EJS Center), which focuses on the advancement of women in public life across Africa. In July 2020, Ellen Johnson Sirleaf was appointed to co-chair the WHO’s Independent Panel for Pandemic Preparedness and Response (IPPR).
