Haley has been conducting research on anti-feminist and anti-LGBTIQ+ movements for over a decade. Although her work focuses on campaigns against sexuality education, reproductive justice, and LGBTIQ+ rights in African countries, her investigations reveal the transnational connections that sustain these movements. In addition to her academic research, Haley has worked with several United Nations agencies and international advocacy groups to pre-empt and respond to attacks against human rights. She is currently a researcher at Gothenburg University and a research associate of the University of the Witwatersrand in Johannesburg, South Africa.
