Jean Kemitare is the Programmes Director at Urgent Action Fund – Africa, responsible for strategic program leadership and implementation. Her experience spans 18 years in community mobilization, movement building, research, capacity building, policy advocacy, and feminist funding. She has expertise in chronic poverty, gender equality, gender-based violence, and trauma healing. Jean has authored popular education methodologies for violence prevention, resisting extractives, and water justice. She has written opinion pieces and peer-reviewed articles on feminist funding, violence, economic justice, trauma, and healing justice. She holds an MA in Social Sector Planning and Management from Makerere University.
