Prof. Nyong’o is the Governor of Kisumu County Government in the Republic of Kenya. He served as a Member of Parliament for 20 years and Senator for 5 years. He has also served in the national government as a Cabinet Minister for Planning and National Development and later as Cabinet Minister for Medical Services. Prof. Nyong’o holds a PhD in Political Science from the University of Chicago and has taught at the University of Nairobi, El Colegio de Mexico and Addis Ababa University before joining the African Academy of Sciences as Head of Programs.
