Mary Balkungeri

Before joining RWN, Mary worked in Geneva for the UN with UNV, the Economic Commission for Europe, WHO, and the World Council of Churches. At the Council, she was the Liaison in the Program to Combat Racism (PCR), with a focus on South Africa toward the release of Nelson Mandela. Mary is also Interim Chair of the African Network of Women Shelters (ANWS), an affiliate of the Global Network of Women Shelters (GNWS). She chairs the CSO UN Women’s Advisory Group in Rwanda and has collaborated on gender equality and women’s human rights agendas at national, regional, and international levels.
