Dr. Lisa Avery is an academic, clinician and global health specialist in sexual and reproductive health. Her research focuses on improving the health and lives of marginalized populations, with emphasis on women and adolescents’, through development and implementation of innovative health, program and policy interventions that are contextually relevant, and informed by gender equality, health equity, rights based, participatory and intersectionality frameworks.
She has over 20 years of successful implementation, evaluation, knowledge translation/mobilization and transition to scale of large scale international collaborative global health research and capacity building projects in both Africa and Asia. She holds an MD with specialization in Obstetrics and Gynecology from the University of Manitoba and a Masters in Global Public Health from the University of Copenhagen.
