Sevonna Brown, National Director of Black Women’s Blueprint at Restore Forward, leads the Safer Childbirth Cities Initiative through Merck for Mothers. Brown is a certified doula and has clinical experiences in postpartum support, home visiting, prenatal care and childbirth education. She currently sits on NYC’s Maternal Mortality and Morbidity Review Committee. She trains midwives and doulas at colleges and universities. She co-authored the Sexual Abuse to Maternal Mortality Pipeline Report (2019) with Farah Tanis and Cathy Tanis, which offers a comprehensive examination of the “sexual abuse to maternal mortality pipeline” and its markers.
