Swedish International Development Agency (Sida)
A development economist and political scientist by training Pettersson has spent his professional life in politics, diplomacy and development cooperation. He has served as Ambassador of Sweden to Ethiopia and the African Union 2017-2020 and to Afghanistan 2010-2012, as Head of Development Cooperation at the Embassy of Sweden in Dar-es-Salaam, Tanzania 2005-2008. Pettersson has held several posts as Assistant Director General and Head of Department at Sida including at the Departments for Conflict and Africa. Pettersson has been Secretary General of the Swedish Committee for Afghanistan, Secretary General of Swedish Liberal Party and Political Advisor at the Prime Minister’s Office.
