Dr. Lisa Avery is an academic, clinician and global health specialist in sexual and reproductive health. Her research focuses on improving the health and lives of marginalized populations, with emphasis on women and adolescents’, through development and implementation of innovative health, program and policy interventions that are informed by gender equality, health equity, rights based, participatory and intersectionality frameworks. She has over 20 years of successful implementation, evaluation, knowledge translation/mobilization and transition to scale of large scale international collaborative global health research and capacity building projects. She holds an MD (Obstetrics and Gynecology) and Masters in Global Public Health.
