Danette Wilkins (they/she) is a Program Officer with the Johns Hopkins Center for Communication Programs and a member of the Sexual and Reproductive Health Core team for Breakthrough ACTION, USAID’s flagship social and behavior change program. In their current role, they provide technical assistance and support to Breakthrough ACTION colleagues and partners across the areas of men’s and boys’ engagement, provider behavior change, sexual and gender minority inclusion, gender-based violence, health equity and social determinants of health, and gender mainstreaming and integration.

Our experiences, needs, and priorities must be addressed and can vary from those of cisgender, heterosexual people. Ongoing invisibilization and exclusion reinforce and exacerbate health disparities in SRH and other areas based on sexual orientation, gender identity, gender expression, and/or sex characteristics. This session will explore the current state of SGM inclusion in SRH research, programs, and services, focusing on low- and middle-income countries, and share tools and practices for strengthening inclusion across diverse country contexts.
