Neela oversees Outright’s Queer Legal Futures, United Nations, Global Trans Rights, LBQ Connect, and research programs. She frequently speaks and writes about ipeace, security, and humanitarian access for LGBTIQ people, repressive legislation, and gender liberation. Neela was previously with Human Rights Watch as Associate LGBT Rights Director and as a researcher in the Africa Division. Neela holds a bachelor’s degree in social justice studies from the University of Michigan and a master’s degree in international relations from Yale University. She lives in Washington, D.C., USA.
