Rugiatu Neneh Turay is the founder of Amazonian Initiative Movement (AIM) and chairperson for the Forum Against Harmful Practices (FAHP), as well as being one of the leading anti-FGM activists for 20 years and later becoming a politician. She has transformed initiation bushes into schools and her organisation has been the first one to organise a public declaration of cutters and the only organisation to have organised alternative rites of passage with women in Sierra Leone. Rugiatu has served as Deputy Minister and Deputy Chairperson on her local council and is the only anti-FGM campaigner to have won an election.
