This intergenerational event brings together young people, development practitioners and government partners working in the SRHR and HIV space to share their expertise in developing, implementing, and monitoring impactful youth-centered programmes in Africa. At the core of the Doing Development Differently (DDD) agenda is the emerging focus on the urgent need to disrupt the development status quo by ethically engaging communities as change agents and experts of their development needs. Our goal is to end this conversation with clarity around the importance of ethically engaging young people in the health and development agenda to end AIDS, inequality and GBV.

Our session unites multi-sectoral stakeholders to build action for menstrual justice for all, to realize gender equality. Societal structures and inequalities deeply shape experiences of menstruation and the menstrual cycle. The resulting stigma, discrimination, and constrained access lead to significant loss of human and economic capital and potential. Limited investments and competing priorities further undermine sustained action on menstrual health (MH) and related rights across the lifespan. Our session delves into two interlinked approaches, feminist and grassroots leadership for MH, and integration of MH and SRHR, highlighting learnings from both, to launch a united approach to menstrual justice for gender equality.
