Travel:

It is important to mention the ease of the air connectivity. Airlines servicing Kigali International Airport are: RwandAir, Kenya Airways, Ethiopian Airlines, Brussels Airlines, KLM, Qatar Airways and Turkish Airlines.

Helicopter transfers within Rwanda are available through Akagera Aviation.

VISA:

Rwanda has an open visa policy where visa is facilitated on arrival for all nationalities. The visa fee is of 50$ (payable on arrival by cash in USD or card) to the exception of all citizens of member states of the African Union, the Commonwealth and Francophone countries, which are waived (free of charge).

You will find options to apply for a visa in advance online, but rest reassured it is not required, we recommend getting the visa on arrival.

Delegates holding diplomatic passports, service/official passports or AU/UN laissez-passer travelling for official duty are exempted from visa fees.

Passenger Note – COVID-19:

Relating to COVID-19, Rwanda has been ranked the 1st in Africa and 6th Globally in managing the COVID-19 pandemic and making information accessible to the public by the Australian think tank Lowy Institute.

Communication in Kigali:

Rwanda has excellent cell phone networks covering the entire country. MTN and AIRTEL/TIGO have both countrywide coverage. 3G is available in most greater areas. EDGE on 2G is activated countrywide.

International phone calls can be made easily, but “00” is not accepted, please use “+250” for international calls and SMS for Rwandan numbers.

The delegates arriving for the women deliver conference will be provided a help desk at the airport where they can get to register for a local SIM card if needed.

Yellow Fever vaccination requirements:

Ministry of Health requires all travelers coming from countries where yellow fever is endemic to produce proof of vaccination at border posts. Travelers without proof of vaccination will be immunized at the airport clinic at a cost of 40 USD.

Medical Emergency:

For any advanced treatment, delegates are advised to seek treatment at one of the following hospitals:

For any medical services offered, the guest will cover the costs.

If no other assistance is available to you, you can call 112 for an ambulance or medical emergency.

Local Transportation:

Common local transportation means in Rwanda are taxi cars, which can be arranged via your hotel or by calling Yego Cab (taxi company) by dialing 9191.

Alternatively, moto-taxis can be also taken by waiving on of the red motorcycles on the street to reach your destination.

If you've selected an In-person local participation ticket (must be of Rwandan nationality AND living in Rwanda), you can pay via MomoPay or via local bank transfer.
