Guided by intersectional feminist values and approaches, Mónica is committed to transformative change in global development, building a more representative, equitable, and just sector that centers the experiences and leadership of women and girls, and non-binary, gender non-conforming, trans, intersex, and LGBTQ+ people. Her career has spanned across Nicaragua, Kenya, Tanzania, Guinea-Bissau, Timor-Leste, and the US, and focused on supporting country and grassroots gender justice advocates’ access to and leadership in global policy-making spaces. A Third Culture Kid, she hails from Portugal and Norway by way of the UK, the Netherlands, and the US, and she speaks five languages.
