Penelope Anne Phillips-Howard

Professor Phillips-Howard is a public health epidemiologist at the Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine. She leads a team researching menstrual, and sexual and reproductive health of adolescent girls and young women in Kenya and India. She is PI on studies investigating interventions for menstrual, sexual, reproductive health, social equity in transitions into adulthood for adolescent girls. She is a co-investigator of biobehavioural studies examining the benefits of menstrual cups on the vaginal microbiome, and potential benefits of cups among economically vulnerable women. She collaborates across universities and advises on various international committees to advance menstrual health globally.
