Bettina Baldeschi is CEO of the International Women’s Development Agency. Since 2017 she has led a reconceptualisation of IWDA’s strategic role and contribution, articulating a ‘third way’ that draws on the organisation’s roots in both the women’s rights movement and the international development sector. Under her leadership, the organisation has taken significant steps towards decolonising its operations and implementing feminist leadership principles. Bettina has also overseen transformative expansion of IWDA’s knowledge translation and systemic change work, including co-leadership of the Generation Equality Action Coalition on Feminist Movements and Leadership.

This plenary discusses the urgent need for an inclusive feminist approach to funding that redistributes power and resources. Led by organizations from low- and middle-income countries the session will feature insights from funders, philanthropists, NGOs, and frontline advocates. Together, we will examine the obstacles and barriers within the system, redefine leadership, and how to transform funding dynamics. This plenary aims to inspire funders, activists, and organizations to harness their collective power and join in solidarity to contribute to a more just distributed funding ecosystem.
