The panel covers research approaches to document determinants of values, attitudes and behaviour in relation with sexual and reproductive rights and health. The panel cuts across themes, communities, cultures and continents: (i) Identifying the determinants and influencers of values on sexuality and gender relations in Tunisia, (ii) studies of social exclusion causes towards women affected with obstetric fistula in Burkina Faso; (iii) tools for a new reading and interpretation of Universal Health Coverage among a transgender community in Pakistan; (iv) an international public-private partnership using quantitative and qualitative data to implement operations research to mitigate teenage pregnancy in Mexico. It is imperative that the global development community move beyond boutique, unscalable program designs towards sustainable scale-up of promising interventions, particularly through public sector leadership and accountability. This event will leverage the experience of the Ethiopian FMOH in leading the institutionalization and scale of an innovative ASRH intervention targeting married adolescent girls in Ethiopia, Smart Start, as a case study for the pursuit of sustainable scale-up. Representatives from the MOH, PSI Ethiopia, and BMGF will discuss their experience and lessons learned from this scale-up, asking the question what does government need to truly lead scale-up of promising SRH programming?
