Imam Khalfan Elie Bukuru is the President and Founder of AICNDH and is also an #ImamsForShe Project Manager. Imam Khalfan holds a graduate degree in Mathematical Physics from the High Teachers Training School of Burundi. After college, he studied Islamic Studies at the Islamic Institute of Mombasa, where he realized there were very harmful interpretations of Islamic sacred texts. In 2012, upon returning from Mombasa, Imam Khalfan went to Kigali to the Islamic Cultural Center and did a six-month training on Islamic Thoughts. Since returning to Burundi in 2013, Imam Khalfan has held the position of Imam in Ngozi province.
