Tsion Yohannes is a faculty and the Chair of the Center for Gender Equity at University of Global Health Equity (UGHE) since February 2020. Tsion is responsible for managing the Center’s work in academic, research, and organizational development projects and also leads the Center’s program on Gender and SRH. Before joining UGHE in Rwanda, Tsion worked for 16 years as a gender expert and consultant with several international, local non-governmental, and government organizations in Ethiopia. Some organizations she previously worked with include UNWomen Ethiopia, Addis Ababa University, WorldBank, USAID- ATEP, OxfamCanada and Novib, MCDP, British Council etc.

We will hear from women within IMB who broke gender barriers and who empower other women and girls, and from underrepresented voices from the community. UGHE will share its academic experience in promoting intergenerational learning, mentorship, and solidarity among women. The session will be complemented by an exhibition displaying artwork from gender equity projects led by PIH and UGHE.
