In her current role Leyla Sharafi is coordinating and managing UNFPA´s gender mainstreaming efforts and gender and human rights programmes. Leyla brings more than 19 years of international experience at United Nations including, UNFPA, UNIFEM, the Executive Office of the Secretary General, and UNDESA. Leyla has also worked in the media sector in an NGO in Ghana, and as a journalist and editor for a number of years. Leyla holds a bachelor’s degree in political science and a bachelor’s degree in communication from Florida Atlantic University and a master’s degree in international Affairs from the New School for Social Research.
