Joy Asasira is a human rights, gender and social justice advocate focusing on advancing reproductive and gender justice. She was the Coordinator of the Uganda national Coalition to Stop Maternal Mortality due to Unsafe Abortion. Joy received the Uganda Law Society best Female Human Rights Lawyer Award 2018/2019. She was recognized as an emerging woman leader in Global Health at the Women Leaders in Global Health Conference. She holds a Master of Public Health Leadership from Uganda Christian University, a Post Graduate Diploma in Legal Practice from the Law Development Centre, and a Bachelor of Laws from Makerere University.
