Ms. Anne Githuku-Shongwe is the Regional Director of the United Nations Joint Programme on HIV/AIDS (UNAIDS), East and Southern Africa, based in Johannesburg, South Africa. She brings to her role over 30 years of experience as a senior international development professional with the United Nations, as the CEO of a social enterprise, in management consulting and with NGOs on policy and influence. A feminist activist, Anne was Representative for UN Women’s South Africa Multi-Country Office which is responsible for gender equality and women’s empowerment in Botswana, Lesotho, Eswatini, Namibia as well as South Africa.
