An indigenous woman of the Emberá people, Sara Omi is a lawyer specializing in human rights and protection mechanisms. She has a postgraduate degree as an expert in Indigenous Peoples, Human Rights and International Cooperation. She is the legal representative of the Mesoamerican Alliance of Peoples and Forests, president of the Coordinator of Territorial Women Leaders of Mesoamerica, advisor to the Association of Women Artisans and member of the “Jumara Juwa” enterprise, which means the hands of all. She has demonstrated leadership since her adolescence and her contributions have focused on indigenous peoples, especially youth and indigenous women.
