Mutale Nkonde is the CEO of AI for the People, a communications firm combating algorithmic bias in Black communities. As an AI Policy Analyst, she has collaborated with Fitbit Google to improve trust between their platform and African Americans, and is developing a feature to close heart health disparities. AI for the People advises groups within the UN Human Rights Council Anti-Racist Architecture mechanism. Nkonde introduced the Algorithmic Accountability Act to the US House of Representatives and testified in support of its passage in 2022. Nasdaq named her one of the 10 Women to Watch in AI in April 2023.
