Farah Tanis is a transnational Black feminist, co-founder of Black Women’s Blueprint, and founder of Restore Forward, a cooperative land-based healing and reconciliation entity. She co-chaired the March for Black Women, and from 2010-2016, chaired the first Truth and Reconciliation Commission in the U.S. to focus on Black women, their historical and contemporary experiences with racialized/sexualized violence. She founded the Museum of Women’s Resistance, as a Site of Conscience. Tanis is a member of the USHRN Task Force on the international human rights treaty, the UN Convention on the Elimination of Racial Discrimination, and The UN Convention Against Torture.
