Kristin Kagetsu is one of the co-founders of Saathi, a social enterprise in India addressing women’s health and plastic pollution by making 100% biodegradable and compostable sanitary pads. Kristin has a passion for sustainable manufacturing and women’s issues. As an undergraduate, she worked on multiple projects including plastic bottle recycling, waste management, and natural product development with the MIT Design Lab (D-Lab) in Brazil, Nicaragua, and India. This laid the foundation for starting Saathi, where the intersection between women’s health and sustainability is approached in a circular manner. She has since been recognized by Nikkei, Forbes, Cartier, and many others.
