Tarcila brings over 40 years of experience advocating for the rights of Indigenous women and youth. She champions ancestral cultures, trains Indigenous leaders, and combats all forms of violence. Her work has been recognized by UNICEF, the Ford Foundation, and the Sacred Fire Foundation, and she has been awarded by Peru’s Ministries of Culture, Women, and Vulnerable Populations, and National Election Jury. She co-founded CHIRAPAQ and indigenous networks like ECMIA, FIMI-IIWF, and FIAY and served on the United Nation’s (UN) Permanent Forum on Indigenous Issues, UN Women’s Advisory Group and UNESCO’s International Commission on the Futures of Education.
